Application Development and Design: Readiness Initiative

Working in tandem with the Gap Apps and Enterprise Tools readiness initiative team, design and develop applications that bridge systems for unique requirements and needs unaddressed by Workday and the new unified processes that it supports.

Key Update

Quarter 1, July – September:

  • Compiled and shared documentation on WCM Administrative Computing workflows, team roles, and software development life cycle practices.
  • Compiled and shared Ithaca application development artifacts such as:
    • CEMI Enterprise Apps Portfolio Overview, including portfolio, staffing, and insights.
    • Managing Operations and Enhancement Projects, detailing tools, costs, strengths, and challenges.

Next Steps

Quarter 2, October – December:

  • Gather and present additional application development insights from Chris Huang, Ryan Levo, Sid Cuff, Sumanth Tunga, Dhana Jayakumar, and Daniela Balmus to broad ross-domain understanding and alignment.
  • Define apropriate go-forward develoment activities and timelines.
  • Gather, consolidate and refine the cross-campus application inventory to identify systems that require triage, further evaluation in support of Strategic decision-making.
  • Establish prioritization criteria and a structured decision-making process to determine the next steps for each applicaiton (e.g., rebuild, sustain, integrate, retire, or transition).

“As common as possible, as different as necessary” is the guiding principle to reflect the CEMI vision for administrative and financial systems across our campuses in Ithaca, New York City, and Doha. Common solutions will allow information to flow seamlessly among campuses, enabling everyone to easily get the answers they need. We’ll maintain unique solutions only where truly necessary.
